iDB Tutorial (cont.)
'Logs' Application'Logs' is a notes-like application. It's primary design purpose to keep track of events. Currently, 'Logs' only keeps track of event times. However, that is due to change in the next release. Event times (log times) are internally logged in GMT, and displayed back to user in device's localtime. Therefore it shouldn't catch you in surprise if a log item says 1:00pm in California, and then changes to 4:00pm when you go to New York. What is important is the correct time for Logs, and the subject event truly happened at 4:00pm in New York time on that log-date. Log Record List screen is a list of logged items in reverse chronological
order. Below is the Record List and Record Details for a sample Sailing Logs database:

'Checklists' ApplicationChecklists are just what the name implies: Quick checklists. The concept applies to many things we do daily: "Pre-flight checklists", "Shopping Lists", "Vacation Checklists", "Interview Checklists", "Pre-release checklists" (the one we use prior to releasing a new version of iDB), etc. etc. The current sorting options on Checklists are by status, and alphabetical. Below are two
images from "Pre-flight Checklist" sample database that comes with iDB:
![]() Just like in ToDo's, there is a status button next to the item title in Record List to quickly 'check' an items without needing to get into Record Details. If the checklist is sorted by status at that time, the newly checked item instantly would go down into the 'checked' bunch into its alphabetically sorted location there. There are certain checklist that would require a specific order. I.e., "do this first", then "do this next", etc. (In fact, "preflight checklist" probably belongs to that category). For them, it is a good idea to number item titles, such as: "1a. Actuate controls", "1b. Tleflex cable", etc. so they would line up in the desired order. "Shopping List" may not be a good example, but there are certain things we do over
and over again. As in "Preflight Checklists", "Vacation Checklists", etc. Therefore,
"Checklists" presents a "reset" button at the end of the Record List, to reset the whole
thing for re-using next time:
![]() Once tapped, the whole list gets unchecked and the "reset list" button disappears. Then the first "checked" item brings the button back. This is how the "Record Details" of a Checklist looks like:
